Tamriel's history is full of singular heroes saving the world from the likes of Alduin and the Oblivion crisis and though The Elder Scrolls Online is the first adventure in Tamriel to feature other players, it doesn't have to feel like it's any less your adventure. Even though iconic cities like Windhelm are full of other players trading, crafting, and questing, they never feel like an imposition on your own epic journey. ESO's version of Tamriel is vast, leaving plenty of room to team up with fellow adventurers or strike out on your own and your solo adventuring isn’t restricted by levels. Like other Elder Scrolls adventures, you can go anywhere, at any time.
Elsweyr, like all of ESO's other zones, is dotted with discoveries and points of interest familiar from past Elder Scrolls games. The tall spires and desert gorges of Northern Elsweyr reward an adventurous spirit for climbing over them, seeking out Skyshards to earn skill points, and diving into public dungeons where loot and bosses lurk. Especially in first-person mode, The Elder Scrolls Online takes on the feeling of other Tamriel adventures. Jumping to the top of a seemingly insurmountable mountain or trekking down a path less traveled both lead to impressive vistas and amusing characters.

ESO always focuses on making you the hero of your story, even in a world populated by other players. Some locations, towns, and settlements, undergo drastic changes thanks to the intervention of your hero. A village overrun with bandits or angry wildlife can be returned to peace and prosperity by completing quests in the area.
When entering these locations, you are seamlessly transitioned to an instance of the town separate from players who have already saved it. Likewise, the idyllic countryside town you've saved will remain that way, uninterrupted by players still trying to achieve the same peace. Your hero's story and timeline will always dominate, making every part of the game, including Elsweyr, your own epic to write.
Even when the story ends, there are goals to achieve and rewards to unlock. Like other ESO Chapters, Elsweyr is packed with a number of achievements for exploring the map, completing story missions, and defeating monsters (and in Elsweyr you can also battle mighty dragons!). Adventure is always yours to find and yours to define.
Almost all of ESO's content can be tackled solo or with a convenient bystander willing to pitch in. For challenges too tough to face head-on, ESO uses the familiar Elder Scrolls stealth crouch mode that allows skilled players, especially the superiorly sneaky Khajiit, to bypass tough encounters and snatch loot from under the noses of enemies.
Even for larger scale challenges and events, like public dungeons or dragons, you don’t have to suddenly abandon your desire to be a lone ranger. Rather than joining a formal group with other players, you can join in on the action at any point and as experience and rewards for open world bosses are doled out individually to all participants, you won’t lose any of the loot!
More than ever, The Elder Scrolls Online is one of the few MMOs that allows you to play like a solo adventure as long as you'd like. With an ever-expanding suite of story content and an open world befitting of a traditional Elder Scrolls game, ESO is an adventure on your terms.
