PC Gamer is taking on GamesRadar+ in League of Legends: Wild Rift

The European open beta for League of Legends: Wild Rift is finally arriving on December 10th, meaning if you've never had the chance to battle through 5v5 MOBA combat in one of the world's most played games you can now do so anywhere from the palm of your hand. League of Legends has gone mobile, and we're doing something special to celebrate.

Multimedia maverick and fearsome wrestler Simon Miller is dropping his barbells long enough to go toe-to-toe with video game legend Alysia Judge in an epic battle to decide who is the ultimate champion of League of Legends: Wild Rift. Armed with just their smartphones and cameras, they'll be taking you behind the scenes in a three part video series as they recruit their team and prepare for the final climactic battle.

Not only that - they're laying the reputations of two of the UK games industry's most prestigious media on the line. Alysia will be captaining GamesRadar+ and Simon will fly the flag for PC Gamer… and the winner takes all.

We're allowing our captains to recruit two players of their choice to flank them in battle—alongside two AI companions, of course. To win, they will need to dive into Wild Rift's deep, meaningful gameplay (the same as the League of Legends you're used to) and pick their champions strategically. From the rogue assassin Akali, to Dr Mundo's giant fists, there are over 45 champions to choose from so tactics will be key. Using the intuitive dual-stick controls across Wild Rift's comparatively smaller maps, the three rounds Alysia and Simon are going to battle it out over will be fast-paced and action-packed.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is staying true to the League of Legends universe you know by being free to play with no pay to win—so there's no way for Alysia nor Simon to jingle their pockets to get ahead of the competition. They're going to have to bring new ways to play, research their champions, and pick their teams carefully to get ahead.

Who will they choose? What are their personal stakes? And who will come out on top? We have so many questions, and the only way to start answering them is to watch episode one, which outlines the challenge in full and is available now.

Stay tuned for episode two, which will follow Alysia and Simon as they begin the tough job of recruiting their two teammates and forging their winning strategies. As they squad up, they'll need to get into the heads of their opposition to figure out what champions they might be picking - and who are best placed to dominate them on the field.

Finally in episode three the battle will commence from all different corners of the UK. The honour of GamesRadar+ and PC Gamer is at stake. May the best team win...
