Black Friday, the consumerist temple to which otherwise fiscally reasonable humans might sacrifice their bank accounts, is coming. I mean, it's always coming, such is the way of an annual event, but we are now just over a week away from the big day. But Black November is kinda the thing now, and that means we're going to see the best Black Friday PC gaming deals littering the tech shelves all the way through the month. And probably beyond through to Christmas.
But we've been checking over prices all year long, and we'll be updating this page along with our regular deals pages, to keep you up to date with the lie of the land in terms of prices.
The first rule of this list: no junk. We spend our weeks testing the latest products to see if they're worthy of our PC gaming setups, and we're putting all that knowledge to work during this Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales season to recommend the best stuff you can buy. If we don't think it's any good, we're not going to recommend it just because it's on sale.
The second rule: real deals only. It can be hard to sort out the deals from the "deals" during these big sale events, so we're checking price histories and selecting only genuinely decent—or exceptional, when we find them—discounts on PC gaming stuff.
Our goal: Save you from having to trawl though pages of bad products and not-actually-deals on Amazon, Overclockers, and Ebuyer yourself.
If you do want to directly browse the stores with the biggest sales on PC gaming gear right now, check out the quick links below. Otherwise, keep scrolling for our top recommendations, or use the navigation links to jump to a category.
What does 'price watch' mean?
We've added a new "price watch" qualifier to all our individual deals, making it easy to see whether a price has gone up 🔼 or down 🔽 since we last checked it out. It's important to note that any deal in this guide (even if it's slightly risen in price) is still one of our top picks, as we only show you deals that are actually worth buying.

1. Scan gaming PC | Ryzen 5 5500 | RTX 4060 Ti | 16 GB DDR4-3600 | 1 TB SSD | £879.98 £849.98 at Scan (save £30)
RTX 4060 Ti builds can hit the sweet spot of entry-level price and mid-range performance, depending on the game in question, and this is certainly the case with this build from Scan. The CPU is a couple of generations old and you only get 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, but for well shy of £900 you can't go wrong with this rig, provided 1080p or 1440p gaming is your main focus, and not AAA 4K gaming or heavy productivity.
2. Gigabyte G5 | RTX 4060 | Core i5 13500H | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144 Hz | 16 GB DDR5-4800 | 512 GB SSD | £849.99 £749 at Currys (save £100.99)
We're big fans of this little budget gaming laptop, and our Jacob loved its great gaming performance (check out our review). With some genuine 1080p gaming chops on offer for a substantially lower price than we've seen previously, this makes for a tidy little gaming laptop for not much cash at all.
Price check: Amazon £799 (OOS)
3. Secretlab Titan Evo | Leatherette | Magnetic cushions | £469 £439 at Secretlab (save £30)
The Titan Evo is our favorite gaming chair at the moment, and has been for the longest time. It's the benchmark by which we judge all other gaming chairs—it's comfortable, supportive, and easy to assemble. The holy trinity. Buying direct from Secretlab is the only way to pick up this chair at this price.
4. ASRock Phantom PG27FF1A | 27-inch | 1080p | IPS | 165Hz | £119.99 £109.98 at Scan (save £10.01)
It's pretty wild what you can get these days for a relatively small sum of money. This is a 27-inch monitor for roughly the same price as some smaller 24-inch panels, and it still rocks an IPS display, 1ms response time, and a 165Hz refresh rate. Fantastic for gaming on a budget.
Price check: Overclockers £129.95
5. Lexar NM790 | 1 TB | NVMe | PCIe 4.0 | 7,400 MB/s read | 6,500 MB/s write | £71.99 £67.99 at Amazon (save £4)
You'll only find a few 1 TB SSDs going cheaper than this Lexar drive, and none are as good value. We really liked what this drive had to offer in our review, delivering performance right at the top end of what PCIe 4.0 is capable of, all for a low price.

ADMI Gaming PC| Core i5 12400F | RTX 4060 | 16 GB DDR4-3200 | 1 TB SSD | £699.95 at Amazon
Yes, this six-core, 12-thread CPU is now two generations old but for the money, you really can't complain. Well, a bit more RAM would have been nice, but you're not going to get many gaming PCs with an RTX 4060 and a 12th Gen i5 for less than £800. The PSU is only rated to 500W, however, so if you're planning on using this as a base to upgrade in the future, you might need a better supply unit for a top-end GPU.

Scan gaming PC | Ryzen 5 5500 | RTX 4060 Ti | 16 GB DDR4-3600 | 1 TB SSD | £879.98 £849.98 at Scan (save £30)

Scan Gamer RTX Gaming PC| Ryzen 5 5500 | RTX 4070 | 16 GB DDR4-3600 | 1 TB SSD | £1,029.98 £999.98 at Scan (save £30)
The six-core, 12-thread CPU may be last-gen, and not the fastest one that AMD ever made, but this is still a very good deal for a powerful RTX 4070 machine. It sports dual channel DDR4-3600, which is rare to see in a simple pre-built, and you get a 1 TB SSD to load up with games.

CCL Horizon | Ryzen 7 5700X | RTX 4070 Super | 32 GB DDR4-3200 | 2 TB SSD | £1,399.99 £1,249.99 at CCL (save £150)
This Horizon PC from CCL is pretty damn cheap for a solid all-round RTX 4070 Super gaming PC, even if its CPU and RAM is decidedly previous-gen. The 5700X and 32 GB DDR4 combo should be more than enough to churn out frames in-game, and it should even be a decent enough performer for some moderate productivity tasks. Throw in 2 TB of storage and you have a fantastic deal.
Price watch: ⬇️
Scan Performance| Ryzen 7 7700X | RTX 4070 Super | 16 GB DDR5-5200 | 1 TB SSD | £1,399.99 at Scan
The 7700X is a very speedy, if slightly hot running CPU, and here it gets a decent dose of DDR5 and an RTX 4070 Super to make friends with. That makes it an excellent upper mid-range machine at a good price with plenty of upgradeability, although I'd start off with sticking an extra 16 GB of RAM in when you get the chance.

Cyberpower Luxe | Core i9 12900KF | RTX 4080 Super | 1 TB SSD | 32 GB DDR5-5200 | £1,929 at Amazon
This Cyberpower Luxe comes equipped with the fantastic Core i9 12900KF, in combination with an RTX 4080 Super that can churn through frames in any game. You also get a very fancy corner window case to show off those RGB-lit fans, making this PC a stunning looker with a serious gaming grunt to match.

3XS Gamer RTX | Core i7 14700K | RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR5-5600 | 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD | £2,999.99 at Scan
You're probably thinking that this isn't much of a good deal but when RTX 4090 cards cost £2,000 on average, it looks a whole lot better. You're getting a very solid gaming CPU, the best gaming GPU, lots of speedy dual-channel RAM, and plenty of NVMe storage. This is about as fast a gaming machine as you can get your hands on, and even at £3,000, this is still a monster of a PC at a good price.

A slightly odd set of components here, but if you're looking for a large screen laptop with decent gaming performance at a budget price point, this is a darn good shout. That large screen might be only 1080p, but it's super speedy, and it's well matched with an RTX 4060 and a 12th gen (but still performant) Intel mobile chip.

Asus TUF F15 | RTX 4070 | Core i7 12700H | 15.6-inch | 1080p | 144 Hz | 16 GB DDR4 3200 | 1 TB SSD | £1,199.99 £990 at Amazon (save £209.99)
For just a smidge over a grand, this laptop has a properly excellent spec sheet for the cash. The screen might be 1080p, but that just means that RTX 4070 will have no problems cranking frames towards that 144 Hz panel. The CPU is still a bit of a mobile barnstormer too, and you get a proper 1 TB SSD for storage.

Acer Nitro V 16 | RTX 4060 | Ryzen 7 8845HS | 16-inch | 1200p | 165 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD | £1199.99 £999 at Amazon (save £200.99)
This 16-inch lappy is a proper bargain at this price, as there's really not a lot wrong with it for under £1,000. You get an eight core, 16-thread processor, 16 GB of RAM, a 165 Hz 1200p screen and a proper 1 TB SSD, and let's not forget that RTX 4060. It might not be the most powerful of GPUs, but it's a darn sight better than the RTX 4050 you find in most machines at this price, and with DLSS 3 it can deliver decent gaming performance.

MSI Pulse 16 | RTX 4070 | Core i9 13900H | 16-inch | 1600p | 240 Hz | 16 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD | £1,799 £1,199 at Amazon (save £500)
It's a bit of a shame MSI has decided to draw all over the top deck here, but if that doesn't bother you the components here are superb for the cash. A speedy 1600p 240 Hz panel is the crown jewel, set off by an RTX 4070 and an efficient but gaming-ready Meteor Lake CPU. It's very slim and portable, too.

Acer Predator Triton Neo | RTX 4070 | Core Ultra 9 185H | 16-inch | 2000p | 165 Hz | 32 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD | £1,599 at Amazon
This might not technically be on discount, but it's still a lot of laptop for the cash. Here you get a 2000p speedy panel in combination with an efficient yet very gaming capable CPU, paired with 32 GB of RAM and a decent 1 TB SSD. It's not the prettiest machine, but it's a very portable, very powerful gaming powerhouse in a slim chassis.

When it comes to the hardware running under the bonnet, this 17-inch MSI Vector certainly has the goods, what with that Intel Core i9 processor and an RTX 4080 making a very tempting package indeed. Bit of a shame about the 1200p display and 16GB of RAM, but at least the screen's a good 'un with a 144Hz refresh rate and nice and bright panel. There's a huge amount of performance here, making this machine a sizeable chunk of power for just under £1,700.

The RX 6600 is a quality 1080p GPU and great value for money if you can score it cheap enough. You're getting a budget graphics card that delivers high frame rates in the latest games at top 1080p graphics presets. At least AMD and Intel are bringing GPU pricing down.

As the budget baby of the RDNA 3 family, the RX 7600 faces a lot of competition. Not just from Intel and Nvidia, but from AMD's previous generation of cards too. At this price, though, it's a lot cheaper than the RX 6700 XT and in some games, it performs nearly as well. Dare I say that it's a little bit dull?

While the RTX 4060 isn't exactly one of our favourite graphics cards of all time, it's still capable of delivering good 1080p and 1440p performance thanks to DLSS 3. This little model has a twin-fan cooler and should slot into almost any modern system with no fuss at all. At this price, as budget GPUs go, it's a bit of a steal.

XFX RX 6750 XT | 12 GB GDDR6 | 2,560 shaders | 2,600 MHz boost | £319.99 at Scan
AMD rules the graphics card market's mainstream and budget ends, and the RX 6750 XT is the best GPU at this price point. The RTX 3060 Ti is more expensive and slightly slower in many games. Its popularity means supply is somewhat limited so you might need to wait until it's back in stock.

MSI RTX 4060 Ti | 8 GB GDDR6 | 4,352 shaders | 2,565 MHz boost | £389.99 £319.99 at Overclockers (save £70)
The RTX 4060 Ti might not have blown our socks off when it first arrived, but it's a great budget gaming GPU at this price with some chunky performance for the money. While there is a 16 GB variant available, 8 GB here should do you just fine, despite the fuss that was created around its launch.

The best card at this price point used to be the 6800 XT but now we're starting to see deals like this one, where the newer 7800 XT has the same price tag or lower. It's only a little bit faster than the card it's replaced but you're still getting a lotta GPU for the money.

MSI RTX 4070 | 12 GB GDDR6 | 5,888 shaders | 2,520 MHz boost | £479.99 at Overclockers
The RTX 4070 has been an absolute stalwart of this generation of GPUs, delivering superb mid-range performance for something approaching reasonable money. At this price, it makes a great upgrade option for those who have held out for good discounts on this generation of graphics cards, and thanks to DLSS, it should keep on kicking for quite some time yet.

The RTX 4070 Super still feels like it's only been out for five minutes, but here it is with a particularly decent discount. We found it was between 10% to 18% faster than the OG RTX 4070, although whether that's worth the price difference compared to the deal above is something for you to decide for yourself. Still, it's a fantastic mid-range gaming card.

Seeing a bunch of RX 7900 XTs selling for well less than the original MSRP is a welcome sight, and while they might get overshadowed by some of Nvidia's greatest, they deliver a huge amount of performance. What we like about the XFX with its triple-fan array in particular is that it should run quieter than your average RX 7900 XT. We all could do with a little less noise from our PC.

This is quite the jump in pricing compared to the RTX 4070 Super, but it's quite the jump in performance, too. If you're looking for a card that can really deliver the goods yet can't quite stretch to the RTX 4080 Super below, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is a seriously powerful GPU that would be worthy of any gaming rig.

AMD's mighty RX 7900 XTX is now easy to find well under its original MSRP and it's a seriously powerful graphics card. While it's not as potent in ray tracing and AI/machine learning as Nvidia's equivalent cards, it handles standard rendering extremely well and you're getting more VRAM than you could ever want.

The RTX 4080 Super handily supersedes the original RTX 4080, as it's a little bit faster and has a lower MSRP. Here at £890, it makes a whole lot of sense, even if that's still a lot of money to be spending on one component. Still, it can only really be beaten by the RTX 4090, and good luck finding one of those for anything under £1,500.

RTX 4090 pricing is still silly money, even with this sizeable discount. That said, the RTX 4090 was way up over £2,000 for a time. Now it's back down to something slightly less bonkers. At least it's still by far the fastest graphics card on the planet. Or off it, for that matter.

Crucial BX500 | 480 GB | 2.5" | SATA 6 Gb/s | 550 MB/s read | 500 MB/s write | £49.99 £29.99 at Amazon (save
£20)
For just storing documents, this small SATA SSD is a lot faster than a traditional HDD and Crucial has an excellent reputation for reliability and quality. You're still better off getting an NVMe M.2 SSD for games and your operating system, though.
Price change:➖
Lexar NM790 | 1 TB | NVMe | PCIe 4.0 | 7,400 MB/s read | 6,500 MB/s write | £71.99 £67.99 at Amazon (save £4)
You'll only find a few 1 TB SSDs going cheaper than this Lexar drive, and none are as good value. We really liked what this drive had to offer in our review, delivering performance right at the top end of what PCIe 4.0 is capable of, all for a low price.
Price change:🔼
Crucial MX500 | 1 TB | 2.5" | SATA 6 Gb/s | 560 MB/s read | 510 MB/s write | £73.96 at Amazon
If you don't have enough M.2 NVMe slots on your motherboard for more storage, don't worry; you can still install an SSD via a SATA port. The Crucial MX500 is pretty much the best one out there, as nothing else offers the same blend of performance and value for money as the MX500. It's also available in 2 TB and 4 TB sizes, with the prices scaling on par with the storage capacity, though it is much slower than an NVMe drive.
Price change:🔽
Lexar NM790 | 2 TB | PCIe 4.0 | 7,400 MB/s read | 6,500 MB/s write | £123.99 £119.99 at Amazon (save £4)
Lexar has put together a superb SSD in the NM790, and the best part is that it's surprisingly cheap. Thanks to high-layer NAND and a low-power controller, you can get tons of storage here on an energy-efficient and great-performing drive for not much cash and often for much less cash than the competition. Read our Lexar NM790 (4 TB) review for more.
Price change:➖
Silicon Power XS70 | 2 TB | NVMe | PCIe 4.0 | 7,300 MB/s read | 6,800 MB/s write | £127.99 at Amazon
Prices for the XS70 are some of the most variable I've seen for an SSD, so it's perhaps worth waiting to see if the price dips again before picking one up. It packs rather a large bang for your buck with its fast read and write times, at least. While the software side of things may be a little lacking, we were impressed with this drive's overall performance and value proposition.
Price change:🔽
WD Black SN850X | 2 TB | NVMe | PCIe 4.0 | 7,300 MB/s read | 6,300 MB/s write | £371.74 £121.20 at Amazon (save £250.54)
This is one of our favourite SSD for gaming right now. Unlike the cheaper SN770, the SN850X encapsulates the best PCIe 4.0 offers in terms of performance (check out our review). That makes it a great fit for a boot drive with space to spare for your game library, and at this price, we're happy to pay the premium for its higher speed.
Price check: Scan £149.99
Price change:➖
Lexar NM790 | 4 TB | NVMe | PCIE 4.0 | 7,400 MB/s read | 6,500 MB/s write | £219.98 at Scan
It's a lot of money to spend on a storage drive but it's actually great value for money. Trying to find a high-quality 4 TB SSD around £200 in the UK is pretty impossible right now but this Lexar is well worth the extra money. There are cheaper SSDs with the same capacity but they won't have anywhere near the same performance or longevity.
Black Friday external SSD deals
Price change:🔽
Crucial X9 Pro | 1 TB | USB 3.2 Gen2 | Up to 1,050 MB/s read and write | £80.76 £69.99 at Amazon (save £10.77)
Crucial is a big name in SSDs, and the Micron-owned brand is offering a small saving on this 1TB external model. The drive comes in an anodized aluminium shell with a rubberized base and is just 65 x 50 mm big. There's an integrated lanyard hole too, if you want to wear it, which hides a drive activity light. If this isn't enough storage for you, the 2 TB version is only £104.99 on Amazon.
Price change:🔽
Crucial X10 Pro | 2 TB | USB 3.2 Gen2x2 | Up to 2,100 MB/s read | Up to 2,000 MB/s write | £229.99 £139.99 at Scan (save £90)
If you need a small external SSD but don't want to sacrifice capacity or performance, then Crucial's X10 Pro is a great choice. It's the same size as the X6 model but has double the read/write performance, though you will need to plug it into a 20 Gbps USB port to reach full speed.

Corsair HS55 Surround | 50mm Drivers | 20Hz - 20,000Hz | Wired | £69.99 £39.99 at Amazon (save £30)
Considering its budget-friendly price tag, Corsair's HS55 delivers an impressive package of quality audio and a good build quality. Not often will you find such a well-rounded headset going for so little. The microphone sounds great and can be flipped up out of the way when you don't need it.
Price watch: ➖
JBL Quantum 100| 40mm drivers | 20-20,000Hz | Closed-back | Wired | £29.99 £18.74 (save £20)
JBL have an excellent reputation for superb audio quality, and this headset is rather good value at this price. Featuring JBL's "Quantum Sound Signature", memory foam ear cushions and a good quality detachable boom microphone, it's difficult to think of a better value headset at this price.
Price watch: 🔽
HyperX Cloud Alpha S | 50 mm drivers | 13-27,000Hz | Closed-back | Wired | £119.99 £59.99 at Amazon (save £60)
Though we weren't huge fans of the mixer and 7.1 surround sound, we loved almost every other part of this pretty excellent headset in our HyperX Cloud Alpha S review. They sound great, are super comfortable over long sessions, and have a nice aesthetic.
Price watch: 🔽
Logitech G335 | 40mm drivers | 20-20,000Hz | Closed-back | Wired | £64.99 £54.99 at Amazon (save £10)
This Logitech headset is a lightweight marvel with memory foam earphone pads and a refined yet colorful aesthetic. The 40mm neodymium drivers are well-rounded and it comes with a handy in-line volume control on its extra-long wire. The microphone is nothing to write home about, but for this price these make an excellent entry-level set of cans.
Wireless gaming headsets
Price watch: 🔽
Logitech G435 Lightspeed | 40mm drivers | 20-20,000Hz | Closed-back | Wireless | £74.99 £32.99 at Amazon (save £42)
This Logitech headset is a great entry point for those on a budget looking for a wireless solution, and comes with a surprising set of features for the money. There's Dolby Atmos support, 18 hours of battery life, and a lightweight design, meaning these cans will stay comfortable for longer play sessions. The built-in microphones are not the best-sounding things we've ever heard but are perfectly functional, and at this price, we think this set makes a solid budget option.
Price watch: 🔽
HyperX Cloud Stinger Core | 40mm drivers | 20-22,000Hz | Closed-back | Wireless | £79.99 £48.76 at Amazon (save £31.23)
HyperX make some of our most recommended headsets, and this Core edition of the Cloud Stinger has a load of great features at a very reasonable price. Virtual 7.1 surround, a swivel-to-mute-microphone, onboard audio controls and durable steel sliders make this a sleek and svelte package for a budget price tag.
Price watch: 🔽
HyperX Cloud III Wireless | 53 mm drivers | 10-21,000Hz | Closed-back | Wireless | £169.99 £77.99 at Amazon (save £92)
The HyperX Cloud III is a super solid headset that struggled to stand out among its competition at its full price. However, with over 70 pounds off, this is an excellent find. As pointed out in our HyperX Cloud III review, it "is a worthwhile update to the classic Cloud II", and more deserving of the upgrade at this price point.
Price watch: 🔼
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro | 40mm Drivers | 20Hz - 20,000Hz | Wireless | £329.99 £244.99 at Amazon (save £85)

Price watch:🔽
Razer Huntsman Mini | Tenkeyless | Razer optomechanical switch (linear) | Chroma RGB lighting | £101.68 at Amazon
A teeny-tiny keyboard, but with some seriously impressive credentials. You can customise the lighting to your heart's content with Razer's Chroma RGB lighting, but the headline feature here is the inclusion of optical-mechanical switches, with key presses registered at the speed of light. It's also got oil-resistant PBT keypads and Razer Hypershift for all your favourite macros. A lot of cool features in a small-yet-premium feeling package, now at a great price.

Price watch: ➖
Asus ROG Falchion RX Low Profile | Mechanical Wireless | Low profile | £169.99 £124.99 at Amazon (save £45)
This one's for all you low profile lovers out there. The Falchion RX Low Profile is a smashing little keyboard—and I do say "little", because it's using a 60% layout, although thankfully it keeps the arrow keys. The keys you do get are fantastic, though: pre-lubed and smooth as butter. The board even comes with volume controls along the top.
Price watch:➖
Corsair K70 RGB PRO | Full-size | Cherry MX Mechanical switches | Per-key RGB lighting | £149.99 at Overclockers
While Tenkeyless keyboards might be all the rage, for some of you only a true desk dominator will do, and this Corsair model is certainly that. A mighty giant of an input device, it features dedicated media keys, per-key RGB lighting with Corsair's iCUE RGB integration, and a simply massive wrist rest to make this a keyboard to end all others.

Black Friday gaming mouse deals
Price watch:🔽

This mouse has been sitting in our best gaming mouse guide as a brilliant budget wired option for some time now, and it's still yet to be bested. Price watch:➖

The SteelSeries Aerox 3 might be lightweight with its honeycombed design, but it's certainly not light on features. With a 200-hour battery life, dual connectivity, and AquaBarrier protection to ensure water, dust and dirt resistance, this is a mouse designed to take some abuse and keep on trucking. And with a £40 discount, it's well worth considering next to the other options here.

Logitech Pro X Superlight | 25K sensor | Wireless | <63g | £139.99 £99 at Logitech (save £39.99)
This is an incredibly low price for a gaming mouse that my colleague Jacob uses every single day. According to him, it's a really comfortable design, feels great to game with, and it's importantly super accurate. It's not often we see this mouse go for this low price.
Price watch:🔽
Logitech G502 Lightspeed | Wireless | 25,600 DPI | Right-handed | £139.99 £84.98 at Amazon (save £55.01)
When we reviewed the G502 Lightspeed we found it to be a brilliant mouse, but a little bit on the pricey side. However, with this discount, we're more than happy to sing the praises of this excellent device. 11 customisable buttons, a fantastically accurate sensor, great looks and comfort, tuneable weights and PowerPlay wireless charging support with a 60-hour plus battery life. Phew. That's a lot of great features, and a mighty gaming mouse this makes indeed. One to look out for, especially at this sort of money.
Black Friday controller deals
Price watch:🔽
Xbox Wireless Controller | Black | £54.99 £38.99 at Amazon (save £16)
The Xbox Wireless Controller is Microsoft at its absolute best. An improved version of its refined console controller, you can't really go wrong with this pad even on PC.
Price watch:🔽
Sony DualSense Controller | Wireless | Built-in battery | USB-C charging | £65.82 £39.99 at Amazon (save £25.83)
The PlayStation 5 DualSense has a "you have to touch it to believe it" quality, thanks to its haptic motors and "Adaptive" triggers. The downside is that games need to be programmed to take advantage of them, and only a few do. However, Steam already offers full support for the controller, so it's relatively easy to plug in and use like any other gamepad.
Black Friday CPU deals
1. Do you want to keep your current motherboard?
2. Eight cores are more than enough for gaming, even six is fine
3. The best way to save money is to buy a last- or two-gen old CPU
4. You don't actually need a big AIO liquid cooler, even with a high-end chip
5. Modern CPUs work best with super-fast RAM but it's not a must-have
Price watch: ➖
Intel Core i5 12400F | 6 cores | 12 threads | 4.4 GHz boost | 18 MB L3 cache | 65 W TDP | LGA1700 socket | £98.99 at Amazon
Looking to build a cheap Intel gaming PC that you can upgrade over the years? This little Alder Lake chip will get you started nicely and we rate it very highly for its low power, speedy gaming performance, and huge overclocking potential.
Price watch: ➖
Intel Core i5 14400F | 10 cores | 16 threads | 4.7 GHz boost | 20 MB L3 cache | 65 W TDP | LGA1700 socket | £274.08 £146.97 at Amazon (save £127.11)
If the 12400F is a bit too slow in games for your liking, then the 14th Gen equivalent is the one to pick. The addition of four E-cores helps out with general productivity and the higher clocks make it pretty nippy. Just make sure the motherboard has the very latest BIOS to avoid any voltage problems.
Price watch: ➖
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | 8 cores | 16 threads | 4.6 GHz boost | 32 MB L3 cache | 65 W TDP | AM4 socket | £329.01 £158 at Amazon (save £171.01)
If you have an AMD AM4 motherboard and it's currently sporting an older Ryzen processor, the 5700X is a really cheap way to upgrade your gaming PC's number of CPU cores and threads. With a TDP of just 65 W, it's easy to cool and it's even unlocked for a spot of overclocking.
Price watch: ➖
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | 16 cores | 32 threads | 4.9 GHz boost | 64 MB L3 cache | 105 W TDP | AM4 socket | £749.99 £289.29 at Amazon (save £460.70)
While you'd never pay full price for a Ryzen 5000-series processor these days, it's still pretty amazing that you can get a 32-thread CPU for this kind of money. Overkill for gaming, the 5950X is a fantastic chip for handling offline rendering and video editing. Make sure you pair it with a beefy cooler, though.
Price watch: ➖
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D | 12 cores | 24 threads | 5.6 GHz boost | 128 MB L3 cache | 125 W TDP | AM5 socket | £797.98 £458.99 at Amazon (save £338.99)
Far too expensive when it came out, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D is often overlooked because it's a middle-ground processor for gaming and content creation. Not the best in either category, but it's still a mighty upgrade if you're just sporting a six-core CPU. The 3D V-Cache works wonders for lots of games.

When is Black Friday 2024?
The big Black Friday officially kicks off first thing on Friday November 29, 2024, but in reality the sales bonanza will start well before that and last long after, too.
There is likely to be a big push from a lot of the major retailers to encourage early spending ahead of Black Friday itself, which is going to make it a whole Black November month of teasing discounts.
After Black Friday itself the offers will continue through the weekend and into Cyber Monday and on into Cyber Week after that. Then it's Christmas gifting, then January sales, and then whatever they can come up with to hang a deal around come Valentine's Day.
What deals can I expect on Black Friday 2024?
We're so far into the current generation of both graphics cards and gaming laptops that, while you might see some last-gen GPUs in some discounted rigs, they're going to have to be seriously cheap to warrant picking over similarly priced current-gen systems.
But, because we are deep into this generation, and all the main cards have been dealt, there will be deals going down for the latest and greatest PC gaming tech. And that's pretty exciting. You can bet there will be a number of RTX 4060 gaming laptops and PCs going for less than $900 and that will be a great price for an entry level gaming system for sure.
Intel will have launched its new desktop processors by Black Friday, and while we won't see any 14th Gen discounts, I wouldn't be surprised to see Intel's 12th and 13th Gen chips up for sale. And I'm positive AMD's Zen 4 range is going to see some deep cuts this year.
There's been a serious price correction on memory over the last year and so DDR5 is now affordable so putting together a great gaming PC build is within your grasp this year. There has also been a glut of great SSDs deals, too with price drops so ludicrous you'd also be silly not picking up a 1TB drive, even as a spare. Maybe even a 2TB SSD.
Screens are another regularly discounted commodity around Black Friday, and we doubt this year will be any different. This means both the best gaming monitors and the best TVs for gaming could get some tasty deals, too.
And there will always be gaming mice and keyboards on sale come Black Friday too, so they're worth taking a look at. It's a great time of year to treat your butt to a quality gaming chair as well, which tend to enjoy some healthy price cuts this time of year.
What should I avoid buying on Black Friday 2024?
Anything you don't need. It's distressingly easy to be duped into dropping cash on something just because there's a hefty discount attached to it… even though you have absolutely no use for it.
If you're considering making a purchase around Black Friday, have a plan of attack. That probably sounds needlessly aggressive, but you need to know what you actually want to buy first or you'll end up with no end of crap. Cheap crap, maybe, but crap nonetheless.
Do some research on the products you'd like to pick up in the sales (we offer detailed hardware buying guides), and maybe some alternatives in case those don't pop up. Set yourself a strict budget too.
Products like graphics cards and processors have obvious tiers (though the different companies work damned hard to make product names as confusing as possible), and SSDs have rated speeds, but for peripherals, it's tougher to tell from the specs whether they're worth the money. Checking for reviews, from such luminaries as ourselves, should guide you on your way, and checking price trackers such as CamelCamelCamel will let you know if a deal's more than just skin deep.
Are there any Black Friday tips and tricks?
If you haven't already used it up during a credit card splurge around Amazon Prime Day, then you ought to take the opportunity to sign up for a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. That will get you early access to the Lightning Deals, and help you grab some of Jeff's best deals of the day. It will also net you free shipping on a host of products and speedy delivery too, and at the very worst it'll be handy when it comes to bagging some last-minute Christmas gifts for that aunt you always forget about.
