Through crossover with Naraka: Bladepoint, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty gets a strong footing in China
Swords and worlds clash as Naraka: Bladepoint gets a crossover with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The popular battle royale game already comes loaded with mythical warriors and legendary weapons, and now it’s getting even more content via a crossover with Koei Tecmo’s new game that’s helping drive attention for the historical adventure.
The new game designed by Team Ninja, the studio behind the epic Ninja Gaiden and Nioh series, takes the studio’s knack for brutal yet fluid combat and terrifying enemies to a new setting in the Late Han Dynasty. The game explores the struggle between the three kingdoms, and includes some historical figures, like Zhao Yun, Zhang Liang, Hong Jing, and Lu Bu. Koei Tecmo has already shown its interest in games set in Chinese history and lore, and this continues that effort.
Naraka: Bladepoint has already hit its stride since its launch in the middle of last year with over 10 million copies sold worldwide. It features more than a dozen unique characters with special powers to conquer their foes. With these heroes, the game setting, and many of the weapons sprinkled around the battlefield inspired from Chinese and East Asian legend, it’s a fitting match for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The popularity of the game in China is also helping the crossover content draw more players to Koei Tecmo’s new game.
While Naraka: Bladepoint lets multiple players explore a wide map and challenge one another’s martial art skills in brutal combat, the vast world to explore and many enemies to challenge in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be a solo experience. It provides an entirely new test of skill and reflexes against increasingly powerful foes. Coming from Naraka: Bladepoint, players will already have some familiarity with the action combat needed to succeed. And players moving back from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty to the battle royale will be able to show their love of the game with the special crossover content.
NetEase has added special items and cosmetics from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty for players to use in Naraka: Bladepoint. This includes everything from themed backgrounds, trophy markers, profile avatars, and even character gear like Lu Bu’s iconic headwear. On top of that, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty also created two historical heroes, "Viper Ning" and "Tarka J," which will be in DLC.
The crossover content not only brings engaging new elements to Naraka: Bladepoint, but it has also brought extra attention to Wo Long: Fall Dynasty, helping the new game start off with a strong footing and good sales results, particularly for the player base in China. Thanks to the popularity of Naraka: Bladepoint in China, the crossover content reached a broad audience. While Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty already had a strong opportunity to connect with the Chinese audience given its historical setting, the crossover has boosted its success even further.
At Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s live launch event broadcast in China, numerous well-known gaming influencers tried out the game. They offered high praise for the gameplay and overall design. Benefiting from the crossover with Naraka: Bladepoint, Wo Long caught the interest of millions of players and sparked extra enthusiasm during the live broadcast, which garnered 1.1 million viewers.
You can enjoy the competitive action and crossover content in Naraka: Bladepoint now on Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is also widely available on console and PC to let you experience the legends inspiring all the crossover content.
