Goken is an isometric action RPG which has just launched out of a (short) Early Access period. The open world adventure has a gorgeously vibrant anime-inspired aesthetic, and it seems to be relatively straightforward as far as its combat is concerned. There are two attack buttons, with a different weapon assignable to each, and the game doesn’t seem too interested in packing in gimmicks. If you’re after a fairly meat and potatoes action RPG, and take to the art style, Goken looks worth a spin.

This week’s niche simulator award goes to Airport CEO, which as the name implies, tasks the player with building and operating a successful airport. It’s an Early Access game, but it’s already been met with a “very positive” rating on Steam. Naturally you’ll be building an airport, but you’ll also need to keep passengers and staff happy while “keeping any potential criminals at bay”. Things to watch out for include the aforementioned crims, as well as bad weather and critical system breakdowns. Sounds like a lot of fun to be honest, and I’m not being sarcastic (well, I am being a bit sarcastic, but you don’t play a management game without feeling a bit of grief).

A Thai first-person horror game “inspired by Thai myths”. Home Sweet Home looks pretty creepy, based on the trailer, and it reportedly boasts a strong focus on stealth gameplay. But expect puzzles as well, and expect to feel super uncomfortable as a man who wakes up one morning in a place emphatically unlike his bed (hint: it’s some creepy scary place befitting a horror video game). Home Sweet Home supports VR, and there’s a demo as well. Horror games are a dime-a-dozen at the moment but the set design in Home Sweet Home looks worth investigation.
The Walking Vegetables

A pixel art top-down shooter with a flavour heavily reminiscent of Nuclear Throne, except you’re shooting at vegetables. And fruit, I should add. Most attractive is that you can play two-player cooperative, and there are reportedly dozens of guns, melee weapons and gadgets. No doubt, the wrath of vegetables (and fruit!) will require you to be as heavily armed as possible. There’s not much in the way of story by the look of things, but anyone who still has memories of being force fed cabbage as a child will no doubt find some catharsis in this.

It’s a fast-paced local multiplayer game about rocket jousting. But what, you ask, is rocket jousting? It’s jousting, but on rockets! Sheesh. You can also smash up the environment and, in some cases, use it against your opponents. There are four different game modes and “six different rulesets”, and if you don’t have any friends around you can challenge the AI, though the AI won’t verbally abuse you if you beat it. Maybe that’s a good thing. This is an Enhanced Version of Lance A Lot – the vanilla version released last year.
