Five new Steam games you probably missed this week

Jydge

Steam Page
Released: October 5
Developer: 10tons Ltd
Publisher: 10tons Ltd
Price: $14.99 / £10.99

If Ruiner hasn’t sated your appetite for top down cyberpunk ultra-violence, Jydge looks pretty good. Described cleverly as a “roguehate” by creators 10tons, you play as the aforementioned Jydge, tasked with protecting the citizens of futuristic megacity Edenbyrg from crime. Because it’s a rogue-like there’s permadeath, but you’ll also be “augmenting” your Jydge between games and modifying your weaponry. It looks like a variety of play styles are viable too, including stealth and all-out assault. Local cooperative play is a nice bonus.

Omega Strike

Steam Page
Released: October 4
Developer: Woblyware
Publisher: Woblyware
Price: $12.99 / £9.99

This week’s mandatory pixel-art Metroidvania is Omega Strike, which has a really appealing and colourful aesthetic as well as, crucially, shooting. The story seems pretty negligible (isn’t it always?) but there are three different playable classes, with each of them available at any time mid-game. That’s about the extent of the novelty I think, but if you don’t just like the look of it, then it might not be for you. According to the bullet points, there are “seven unique areas”, twelve bosses and more than 45 enemy types.

Carried Away

Steam Page
Released: October 5
Developer: Huge Calf Studios
Publisher: Huge Calf Studios
Price: $8.99 / £6.99

There are millions of people in the world who want to design and build ski lifts for a living, but not everyone can! Carried Away is a neat sandbox and puzzle game about building them. You’ll also be building jumps and bridges – anything required to get the hapless Lemming-like skiiers from point A to point B. And not only can you build, but you’ll also be able to ski. The game launched in Early Access last week and already has “more than 50 levels”, not to mention its reasonably low price tag.

Raw Data

Steam Page
Released: October 5
Developer: Survios
Publisher: Survios
Price: $39.99 / £29.99

This is VR-exclusive shooter that has just launched out of Early Access. The sci-fi jaunt already has a strong reputation and its “very positive” rating on Steam can attest to that. In addition to the campaign (which can be played cooperatively online), there’s also a PvP mode called Hostile Takeover, a 5v5 “king of the hill” style mode. Storywise, it sounds compelling enough: nefarious cyberpunk corporations are doing nefarious cyberpunk things, and you’re part of a hacker group tasked with (violently) stopping them.

Let Them Come

Steam Page
Released: October 3
Developer: Tuatara Games
Publisher: Versus Games
Price: $4.99 / £3.99

This is a wave-based shooter with a pixel art aesthetic, tasking you with shooting an endless onslaught of aliens. It’s not like there aren’t a billion other games that also task you with doing that, but Let Them Come has a few neat twists. First off, the protagonist is permanently parked behind a turret, and the game appears to be more about wisely equipping and loading out in order to survive the waves, rather than quick reflexes. It looks like a fun game in short bursts, and it’s only a fiver.

These games were released between 10/1-10/7. The first page of this list is updated every Sunday and previous weeks are archived on the following pages. Some online stores give us a small cut if you buy something through one of our links. Read our affiliate policy for more info.
