I'm trying to work out what Noctua's brush-like Computex teaser might be and all I can come up with is a hairy fan

There's less than a week to wait until we're being beamed all manner of PC gaming contraptions from the floor of Computex Taipei: PCs, cooling systems, DIY chassis, and, umm, brushes?

Before a "#computex2026", Noctua's recent X post states that "something new is taking shape" above an image of something that looks very brushy. What exactly it is, I'm not sure.

In fact, none of us are any the wiser here in the PC Gamer den. I asked my colleagues what they thought this might be and responses varied from "electrical brush" to "hairy fan." That's about the best I can come up with, I'm afraid.

To be fair, it could also be some pre-woven carbon fibre to hint at something made from that material, but I'm not too sure about that. Surely Noctua would make that more obvious.

Perhaps it'll be some new design for cable grommets or something—you know, those holes in PC cases for cables to feed through that sometimes have rubber flaps lining them? Maybe Noctua will replace those rubber flaps with brushes like you see around some door letter-boxes.

Another possibility is that Noctua has cooked up an electric air cleaner, and the brush shot is a close-up of the anti-static bristles surrounding the edges of the nozzle. I'd have a lot of time for that one, depending on the price, given I've heard how useful an electric air blower can actually be for keeping your PC nice and clean.

Yeah... I'm clutching at straws, here. It's just going to be an anti-static brush, isn't it? Whatever the case, I'm bristling with anticipation.

Hardware Writer

Jacob got his hands on a gaming PC for the first time when he was about 12 years old. He swiftly realised the local PC repair store had ripped him off with his build and vowed never to let another soul build his rig again. With this vow, Jacob the hardware junkie was born. Since then, Jacob's led a double-life as part-hardware geek, part-philosophy nerd, first working as a Hardware Writer for PCGamesN in 2020, then working towards a PhD in Philosophy for a few years while freelancing on the side for sites such as TechRadar, Pocket-lint, and yours truly, PC Gamer. Eventually, he gave up the ruthless mercenary life to join the world's #1 PC Gaming site full-time. It's definitely not an ego thing, he assures us.
