It’s not often that a yearly refresh of a company’s gaming laptops and monitors bring with it more than incremental upgrades. However, Gigabyte’s latest and greatest models have new and innovative features that will turn the head of any gamer. So, if you’re interested in gaming behemoths, ultraportable powerhouses, high-value all-rounders, AI enhancements and/or the world’s fastest gaming monitor, here’s what you need to know...
Introducing GiMATE
At the heart of each new Gigabyte laptop is GiMATE which is much more than an upgrade of the old Gigabyte Control Center app. Built from the ground up, the new, local, AI technology can be accessed using a dedicated key that will even let you speak to your laptop.
It optimises performance according to what you’re doing and includes several AI modes: AI Power automatically improves battery life through CPU and GPU power management and will adjust settings according to scenarios like gaming or meetings; AI Performance dynamically overclocks or powers-down the GPU (and cooling) according to gaming requirements; AI Cooling seeks to eliminate all noise with passive cooling where possible; AI Audio can adjust and improve sound profiles according to things like whether the laptop is on a hard or soft surface; AI Voice removes background noise in a meeting and even learns your voice to eliminate everything else; AI Privacy automatically detects people peeking at your screen and notifies you or dims the display accordingly. It also features GiMATE Creator for local, AI-based image generation.
Unsurpassed gaming performance
For hardened gamers, the new 16 and 18-inch Aorus Master Series machines lead the line. The first thing you’ll notice is the new ‘5o Black’ aesthetic which not only absorbs twice as much light as a regular black laptop but also features a unique, 12-layer(!) construction technology – called 3D Wave NIL – that makes the lid appear to have an undulating texture with optical properties reminiscent of refracted crystal. There’s also a mesmerising, RGB, dot-matrix Aorus logo and the numerous RGB flourishes expected from a premium gaming laptop.
Enhancements are more than skin-deep, too. The Aorus Master Series features brand-new Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors which have up to 24 cores (that can operate up to 5.4GHz) and a new NPU for AI tasks. They’re joined by Nvidia’s new AI-enhanced GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs which include DLSS4 technology for dramatically improved, upscaled framerates. Both models can be specced to include the mighty Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU too, for truly maximum gaming power.
The Aorus Master 18 supports up to 128GB of memory across four SO-DIMM slots and up to 6TB (RAID 0) storage spread across two PCIe Gen4 M.2 slots and one PCIe Gen5 M.2 slot. The Master 16 has space for 64GB RAM (using two memory slots) and 4TB storage across one PCIe Gen4 slot and Gen5 slot.
However, as hardened gamers know, you can’t just throw the most powerful components together and expect them to work optimally or without overheating, throttling and crashing. Gigabyte addresses this with its Windforce Infinity EX thermal technology which is efficient enough to support 270-Watt total thermal power for the Aorus Master 18 (230-Watt for the Master 16) and innovative enough to provide a unique WASD cool zone, so you don’t cook your hands when playing.
The Master 18 utilises a quad-fan design that reduces the temperature by up to 4.7oC compared to previous generations. Its newly designed ‘Frost Fans’ have 158 asymmetric fan blades to improve airflow density while wave-formed diffusers scatter sound and reduce noise by seven per cent. New, ‘lateral housing’ channels airflow to reduce turbulence and increase efficiency while ‘Internal Blast’ technology channels cool air across the entire system, not just to the hottest components. Meanwhile, ‘3D VortX Air-Channelling’ technology utilises four exhaust ports (and double-sided inlets on the keyboard and bottom cover) to massively increase heat exchange efficiency. Oh, and there’s a 50 per cent larger vapour chamber to further enhance cooling and facilitate silent running where possible(!)
A joy to behold
They don’t just look pretty and run fast either, they’re great to interact with. The 16-inch model features a fast, OLED screen with sumptuous colours and a high, 500-nit brightness rating. Its 18-inch sibling features a matte, reflection-free, (2,304-zone) Mini-LED screen that can reach a blinding 1,200-nits brightness. Both have a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, fast, 240Hz refresh rates, a 1:000,000 HDR-compatible contrast ratio, Nvidia -G-Sync compatibility (to reduce image tearing) and certifications from Pantone and TÜV Rheinland for colour accuracy and eye comfort. They also support 100 per cent of the demanding DCI-P3 colour space and support Dolby Vision.
Both models also sport Gigabyte Cinema technology which is based around ‘Dual-force Design’ speakers that simultaneously fire upwards and downwards, for improved, true-to-life sound (the Master 16 has four while the 18-inch model has six!). They feature reduced vibration and distortion, a Smart Amp and both support Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Final flourishes include speedy, Wi-Fi 7 wireless connectivity, maximum-size, 99Wh, fast-charging batteries and the latest Thunderbolt 5 ports.
The ultraportable gaming laptop
Who doesn’t want an ultraportable laptop that’s light enough to carry anywhere and powerful enough to play the latest and greatest games? Well, the 2025 Gigabyte Aero X16 is less-than 17mm thick and weighs just 1.9KG. Available in a sand-blasted Lunar White or Space Grey liveries (and wearing Gigabyte’s ‘NIL Craft’ holographic-effect nameplate), this super-slim gaming machine features a thin-bezel, 165Hz, 16-inch IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and two, Dolby Atmos-sporting speakers.
It also features Gigabyte’s ‘Golden Curve’ keyboard design which has larger, near-silent, more-responsive, tactile (concave) keys for long-term typing comfort and accuracy.
It's powered by AMD’s 300 Series AI processors and Nvidia RTX 5070 graphics with 85-Watt power and Smart Cooling. It supports up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage and a fast-charging battery that can last for over 12 hours. It’s perfect for those who want a genuine ultraportable that’s also a bona fide gamer.
The all-rounder gaming laptop
For those who want a more-wallet-friendly, less-flashy, portable gaming laptop with few compromises, the Gigabyte Gaming A16 should be high up your list. It sports up to an RTX 5070 GPU, and features include a fast, 165Hz, 2,560 x 1,600, slim-bezel display (with fold-flat hinge); Dolby Atmos speakers; silent, Windforce 3D VortX cooling; a fast-charging 12+ hour battery; a Golden Curve keyboard; and RGB lighting. It’s also less-than 2cm thick and weighs just 2.2KG. Its gaming chops come via Nvidia RTX 5070 graphics.
Mad monitors
Finally, check out the new Gigabyte gaming monitors. The 27-inch Aorus FO27Q5P is the world’s-fastest display, featuring a crazy 500Hz refresh rate, a QD-OLED, 1,440p, graphene-cooled Samsung panel and the latest DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity. Its HDR certifications increase immersion and reveal details (and enemies) in bright and dark areas and it’s packed with Gigabyte’s latest ‘Tactical Gaming’ enhancements like Black Equalizer 2.0, Night Vision, VRR Anti-Flicker, Flash Dimming and Tactical Switch 2.0 for instant resolution/aspect ratio switching.
For those who don’t need to game at the bleeding edge, there’s the 240Hz, 27-inch Gigabyte MO27U2 with its high-density, 166ppi UHD resolution and Pantone colour-accuracy certification. It supports 99 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and is perfect for gamers and creators alike.
