The Auto Shop in GTA Online is just one of many businesses you can pick up to help you earn an extra buck or two, especially if you're diving back into Los Santos to check out the GTA V Enhanced edition. While the Auto Shop isn't at the top of the list for GTA money-making, it's not a bad investment to add to your growing enterprise.

Recent updates

March 2025: GTA 5 Enhanced edition is here but has had no impact on Auto Shops in GTA Online. Since this guide was last updated with the Los Santos Tuners update, I've added a little more detail on the requirements for buying an Auto Shop, as well as what you get in return.

Before you take the plunge and hand over your cash, you should know exactly what you're getting for your money. Or maybe you've already bought it but aren't sure where to start. Either way, here's what to know about the GTA Online Auto Shop, including how to buy one and what you can expect from your purchase.

GTA Online Auto Shop: How to buy one

If you've made the decision and you're ready to buy an Auto Shop, make sure you've met up with Mimi at the LS Car Meet at least once. You don't need Car Meet membership either, as you can buy that along with the shop if you choose to.

With the prerequisite met, you should find five Auto Shops listed for sale via Maze Bank Foreclosures. You can check out the map below for the locations of each Auto Shop, circled in blue. Here are the prices for each one:

  • Mission Row: $1,670,000
  • Strawberry: $1,705,000
  • Rancho: $1,750,000
  • Burton: $1,830,000
  • La Mesa: $1,920,000

The cost doesn't stop there either. You can choose to add custom upgrades to your Auto Shop for additional GTA$, including emblem, staff, and style, but again, this is going to really increase the overall cost.

What you get from owning a GTA Auto Shop

Once you have your Auto Shop, you'll be able to take on missions from KDJ and Sessanta. Travel to your new property to watch a cutscene, then access the board in the office upstairs. Don't forget to register as a CEO in the Securoserv menu. Once you've completed the introductory job, you'll have access to more contracts.

It gives you access to all upgrades for your vehicles which is handy if you're lower level. Customer upgrades/deliveries pay around $25k. You'll also gain access to the Union Depository contract which nets you a tidy $270k.

Here are other benefits you can enjoy from your Auto Shop:

  • Exotic Exports List: A chalkboard list of ten cars to steal across Freemode solo or with other players, with a large payment if the full batch is stolen and delivered.
  • Modding Bay: For customising personal vehicles, with the bay also accessible by other players looking to mod their cars. Auto Shop owners have the option to purchase an additional car lift to boost customer mods as well.
  • Mechanics: Additional staff members to help run the business by delivering customer vehicles.
  • Vehicle Storage: For up to ten personal vehicles.
  • Personal Quarters: An optional player launch point with a bed, wardrobe and gun locker.
