Calling all snipers—and any troops who think they've got a good shooting arm! Rebellion Developments will be hosting a competition for five lucky soldiers to win a copy of Sniper Elite: Resistance's standard edition, which'll be parachuting into Steam at the end of the month, January 30 (though if you happen to pre-order the deluxe edition, you'll have access to the game January 28).

Any sniper worth their salt knows that patience, preparation, and observation are all virtues—alongside the ability to strike down the foes of liberty from a distance, that is. We've got a brief training exercise to get you up to speed. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use the scope below to find a hidden propaganda poster. The French Resistance wants to make sure you can spot a needle in a haystack, but that shouldn't be any trouble for you, operative.

Once you've succeeded, our finest military transport (some would call it a "pop-up window") will take you to an external webpage where you can enter to win a copy of the game. These military rations will be delivered via code on launch day.

The competition itself opens on January 23, 6 am PST/2 pm GMT, and ends January 30, 6 am PST/2 pm GMT—we know we said a lot about patience, soldier, but this deadline is a non-negotiable. Don't spend too long lining up your shot. Oh, and we'll only be accepting entrants from the United Kingdom and United States.

Take aim

Sniper Elite: Resistance is the next step in the award-winning Sniper Elite series, following a whole new operative in a German-occupied France during the Second World War. As a Special Operations Executive, you'll be performing covert operations (sneaking), eliminating high-value targets (shooting), and engaging in tactical third-person combat to stick it to the Nazis (a bit of both).

The stakes are high though, soldier, since our one-man army Harry Hawker is on a mission to stop an existential threat—the Wunderwaffe. Try not to panic, but if we don't eliminate this super weapon, there's no guarantee we're going to win the war.

Luckily, we're not sending you down there in your bathing suit—Hawker'll be outfitted with the finest in authentic World War 2 weaponry, with conveniently-placed workbenches scattered throughout France to upgrade and maintain his gear. The right selection of secondaries, scopes, stocks, magazines, barrels, and ammo types'll be crucial to kicking the Germans out for good.

Hawker won't be working alone, though. You can also use propaganda posters (like the one we asked you to find for this competition) to drop into the shoes of the French resistance's finest in Propaganda Missions. We've also been briefed that there are Axis operatives likely to take advantage of the chaos—other players, traitors that they are, can invade your campaign as an Axis Sniper.

Our operatives also report that there'll be "16-player multiplayer battles" and "three player survival mode missions", which must be code for something. Or a suite of optional and exciting game modes. Probably the latter. Now, hop to it, soldier—that's an order!
