Cross-platform MMORPG Summoners War: Chronicles launches in the U.S. and Canada on mobile and PC November 10
It all started when an evil king named Tefo heard a whisper from an ancient, forgotten race across dimensions. Obsessed with bringing these ancients into his reality, he tore open the Rift of Worlds, bringing about a cataclysmic war in the process. Yet just when it seemed like all would be consumed, the rift closed—but not before Tefo was pulled in.
With Tefo's disappearance, kingdoms around the world began to rebuild. For some time, it seemed like there could be genuine peace, that the scars caused by Tefo's war might begin to heal.
It did not last. As rumors swirl about Tefo's return, the Kingdom of Rahil — your home — teeters once again on the brink of destruction. The king has put out a desperate call for summoners capable of standing against Tefo and his forces.
So begins the story of Summoners War: Chronicles, a prequel to the immensely popular Summoners War: Sky Arena, a mobile RPG which to date has been downloaded over 160 million times worldwide. It's important to note that Chronicles doesn't simply retread the same ground as Sky Arena. Instead, it has the distinction of being one of the first open-world, real-time MMORPG titles that's playable on both PC and mobile.
Set many years before the formation of the titular arena, Chronicles will put players in the shoes of a summoner, capable of calling and commanding powerful legendary creatures. Character options at launch include Orbia, a formidable mage; the powerful healer Kina, or the stalwart knight Cleaf. Once players have chosen their summoner, they'll have the opportunity to journey across a vast open world consisting of five distinctive continents.
In the course of their travels, they'll discover, battle, and recruit a legion of monsters. The current roster consists of over 350 unique creatures, each with their own playstyle and skillset. Each creature additionally possesses one of five different elemental attributes—fire, wind, water, light, and dark.
Summoners will have access to all five elements through their weapons. Strategic use of these elements will be pivotal to your success in Chronicles. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the strengths and weaknesses of each:
- Wind is weak against fire but strong against water.
- Water is strong against fire but weak against wind.
- Fire is strong against wind but weak against water.
- Light and Dark are exclusively weak to one another.
New monsters can be recruited to your three-monster team through the use of the Sumon Altar using either Scrolls or Monster Pieces. Monster Pieces, acquired when you summon a monster you already own, are used to grow and evolve your monsters, which can also be equipped with special runes to further buff their stats. Monsters can also be evolved using a special creature known as a Rainbow Angelmon.
Chronicles' open world features both an expansive main story quest and multiple side quests in each of its five regions. Players will also be able to collect materials through gathering, mining, or fishing which can then be used to craft items and equipment by one of the game's professions. Guilds will also play an important role in Chronicles, unlocking unique rewards to aid in progression.
Other modes include:
Single player
- Road to Growth. A set of three dungeons where players can acquire currency for monster upgrades, monster runes, and weapons/equipment for their summoner, respectively.
- Cairos. Free daily dungeons that reward advanced currency used to Awaken monsters at higher levels.
- Expeditions. A challenging dungeon guarded by five unique bosses.
- Trials of Ascension. Unique monthly challenges players can take on for a variety of different rewards.

- Endgame Dungeons. Content designed for up to three players, featuring some of the most powerful bosses in the game and offering some of its heftiest rewards. New dungeons will be released on a regular basis, and there are currently plans underway for a ten-person dungeon.
Competitive Play
- Challenge Arena. After forming an attack and defense team, players can challenge one another to AI-controlled PvP matches.
- Brawl Arena (To Be Added in a Later Update). Similar to challenge arena, except that players control their teams manually.
There will be multiple in-game events to celebrate the game's launch, including valuable daily login and mission completion bonuses and the opportunity to summon some of the most powerful monsters in the game.
Tefo has returned, and threatens to once more tear the world asunder with his plans. Your king has put out a call for worthy heroes to stand against him. All that's left is for you to answer.
