The best places to drop in Warzone 2 Al Mazrah
Where we dropping, boys?
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is now out in the wild and we're all asking the same question: where we dropping? There are many POIs and cool places to visit on the Al Mazrah map including a new airport you can wreck, the usual towers, and even some mountains to camp—I mean strategically hide in.
There are also Strongholds you can visit that are guarded by AI soldiers, and if your group is the first to take over the Stronghold, you'll get a Blacksite key for your troubles. It's also worth visiting landmarks like police and fire stations, medical centres, comm centres and towers to find some of the best loot available. Of course, some starting points are better than others, so here are the best drop zones in Warzone 2.

This full Warzone 2 map of Al Mazrah will give you the lay of the land but it's tough to tell from this overhead view where you'll actually want to drop in. Activision has an official tactical atlas of the map but frankly it's a bit of a pain to navigate and the legend isn't super helpful.
The Al Mazrah map is split into different areas and named locations and, like most battle royales, you'll need to traverse the map to avoid being stuck outside the circle. Each named location has different building styles and landmarks that could prove useful in a match or, in the likes of the Observatory with many high vantage points, get you eliminated much earlier than you'd like.
We'll break down some of the best places to land on the map—the spots with great loot for you to gear up. Before you scroll on, remember which parts of the Warzone 2 map change with each match and which stay the same:
- Same: Ammo caches, police stations, medical buildings, and other landmarks
- Change: Contract locations, strongholds, certain buy stations
Warzone 2: Best starting locations
We'll tell you more about all the Warzone 2 map locations below, but the best spots to drop so far are:
Sa'id City
Sa'id City is definitely the best all around drop spot in Al Mazrah. It has several great buildings for looting: a police station, medical station, fire station, and bank. There's also an ammo cache and two gas stations. You're able to find vehicle spawns here, and there's typically at least one boat spawned on the south side even though there isn't a true dock. Hit up all those high loot buildings on water edge, take a safecracker contract if you see one, and wheelie out of there after your early game looting is complete.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.
Be wary of the huge, glass ceilinged shopping center though. It often draws a lot of heat at the beginning of a round, meaning you're likely fighting other squads for control of its open, multi-level structure. Not to mention you'll very likely get some players dropping in on your head from that breakable ceiling too.
East Suburbs
Forget about Al Mazrah City proper and fix our eyes on the eastern suburbs, which are actually just south of the city itself. This is another location with several good loot buildings: a medical center, grocery store, gas station, and Burger Town joint. Just west of the suburbs is a police station and two more maritime gas stations.
The suburbs have quick bridge access to the Al Sharim Pass, marshlands, and outskirts of Ahkdar Village so you've got good routes out no matter where the first circle takes you. Even if you don't manage to land here initially, it's a great stop along your route in the mid game if you need to grab gas for a vehicle or hit that ammo cache quickly.
Rohan Oil
Rohan Oil doesn't have many landmark buildings known for good loot, but it's a sprawling complex with a lot of buildings sure to turn up loot crates in any case. Just west of the oil refinery is a medical station and gas station that are worth hitting, though.
The draw of Rohan Oil is that it's a simultaneously vertical and horizontal tactical space. Its towers and facility buildings are great tactical vantage points while the big open blacktops make a good staging ground for early squad battles. This is a solid spot to cut your teeth with early kills in the open. After you've staked your claim, the oil refinery is conveniently adjacent to the city and quarry while the whole center of the map is to its south.
Observatory
The Observatory is another location without specifically great lootable buildings but it's all about the vantage point. You can spread your squad over the high ground and pick off opponents easily to defend your loot and position. Be warned that players who do an Obi Wan Kenobi and have the high ground are usually pretty good at the game, so don't wander gormlessly into this area.
Take control from the high point of the map and you can fight your way down in any direction you please. If you do wind up hurting for loot after a few early scraps on top of the mountain, Ahkdar Village just to the south has a grocery, medical station, bank, and four whole gas stations.
More Warzone 2 drop spots
The Quarry
The old favourite from Warzone has undergone a little home improvement. The Quarry can be found in the top left of the map and is quite a large area, making it a decent spot to land first if you want to avoid immediate detection. There's a lot of high ground to keep you hidden for the most part, and although the loot drops aren't the best here, it's a decent place to start to get you near the centre of the map.
Features:
- Comms tower
- Gas station
Taraq Village
A good starting point with decent loot and close to other named locations if you need to make a quick exit or want to hunt for better gear. It's a good first drop point for those looking to grab a quick stash before bailing to more challenging areas.
Features:
- Gas station
Sawah Village
As this area is in a corner and a bit out of the way, it's another good starting zone as it's relatively quiet. There are a good number of landmarks here to access loot and supplies.
Features:
- Gas station
- Fire Station
- Medical Station
- Bank
- Ammo Cache
- Comms tower
- Burger Town
The Port
While smaller in scale, there are also several landmarks you can visit in Hafid Port that will let you stock up on consumables and medical supplies while also hunting for better loot. There's also a Stronghold in this area that you can hit to get a Blacksite key and boats you can access to easily make your way around huge swathes of the map.
Features:
- Maritime gas stations x4
- Boat spawns
Ahkdar Village
This is often highly populated by players in the mid to late stage of a match, so don't head here unless you're ready to fight it out. Landmarks are all close together so you need to decide on one or two areas to focus on as you'll be easily overrun. The loot here is worth the risk but you face a quick elimination.
Features:
- Gas stations x4
- Comms tower x2
- Ammo cache
- Bank
- Grocery store
- Medical center
- Black site stronghold
Sariff Bay
While close to the airport, Sarrif Bay has way more landmarks on offer as well as a marine gas station. It's an excellent spot to grab loot, there's a stronghold and because of its position, it's easy to flee by water if things get too hot.
Features:
- Black site stronghold
- Fire station
- Ammo cache
- Bank
- Maritime gas station
Al Mazrah City
If you want to hit the ground running—and I obviously mean running away from opponents—then test your metal by landing in Al Mazrah City. It holds some of the best loot and there is lots of it, so it's up to you to decide if the risk is worth it. The northern area of the city seems like the lowest-risk place to land but of course, that's assuming none of your opponents have the same idea.
Features:
- Police station x3
- Fire station x3
- Black site stronghold x2
- Gas stations x8
- Medical center
- Burger town x4
- Comms tower
- Ammo cache
- Bank x2
- Grocery store x3
