Build of the week: re.born
This case modder was really on a roll with this abstract project.
James is stuck in an endless loop, playing the Dark Souls games on repeat until Elden Ring and Silksong set him free. He's a truffle pig for indie horror and weird FPS games too, seeking out games that actively hurt to play. Otherwise he's wandering Austin, identifying mushrooms and doodling grackles.
Every Monday, Build of the week highlights a unique rig from the web's most dedicated PC building communities.
Masbuskado, as they're known in the mod scene, is back with a project that’ll leave your head spinning. Re.born is a circular scratch case mod, and it looks wheely, wheely nice. Masbuskado spent 231 hours (39 just on sanding and detailing) putting the case together, using just a few handheld tools, a t-shirt or two, and packed it full of some components that won’t roll heads, but are small enough to fit in its elegant open design.
Re.born’s circular frame narrows at the top, so while it won’t take off on an incline, you can at least rock it back and forth if Windows starts throwing a fit. Overall, the design works for me. While the detail work is a bit busy, the color scheme is as soothing as the beachside photo setting implies, and the abundance of negative space gives plenty of room for your eyes to rest.
